Fun with Web Apps

Posted by 史蒂芬 on 9 March 2008

I received an invite to the SmallWorlds beta from Adobe Flex evangelist, Ryan Stewart. SmallWorlds is a Second Life type of experiance without the bulky, graphics hungry client software. It runs entirely in browser and its one of the few web apps that truly works the same in Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. This makes it ideal for laptop use since most mobile devices do not have GPU’s capable of gaming performance. I for one refuse to pay the extra $500 for a high end laptop when I use a desktop for the majority of my graphics intensive tasks. In addition to my experiments in SmallWorlds, I have recently developed a Twitter addiction. I am now hooked up with my iPhone to Twitter via ThinCloud and Facebook via the Twitter app. So far, everything is in sync and I avoid getting charged text messaging fees.
