Wu Huan

Posted by 史蒂芬 on 22 March 2007

Yesterday, Wu Huan visited Bryant University after opening his exhibit at the United Nations building in New York. Mr. Wu is a famous author and painter who was born to a prestigious Chinese art family. His grandfather, Wu Ying, was a founding member of the Forbidden City palace museum in Beijing and his father, Wu Zuguang, was a famous playwright and author. Mr. Wu’s mother, Xin Fengxia, was a famous actress and author during the cultural revolution whose works include thousands of paintings, leading roles in over 100 plays, and writing 27 books in about 27 years. Mr. Wu’s message to Bryant students was that art is essential for the healthy mind and to always practice art without regard for your personal skill level. He also emphasized the blending of different traditions such as using Chinese tools to paint in a western style. Mr. Wu presented Bryant with a large painting by his students and himself of 100 horses. Mr. Wu also presented President Machtley with a painting of the school’s mascot, the bulldog.
